Art Larson Award

Each Year the St. Justin Martyr Athletic Association recognizes someone who has made a significant contribution to the organization by awarding an individual with the Art Larson Award.

Art was a charter member of St Justin Martyr and a staunch believer in the benefits of athletics. Art coached girls softball at St. Elizabeth of Hungary before becoming a charter member of St. Justin Martyr. In 1966, Art and a group of his friends founded the St. Justin Martyr Athletic Association

Art died of brain cancer on December 2, 1971 at the age of 34. At the time of his death, his two sons attended St Justin Martyr and played soccer. It was his hope that he would someday coach their basketball teams. In Art’s memory, a group of friends, and family set up a fund for an athletic award to be given yearly to a person who unselfishly contributed his/her time and effort to St. Justin Athletic Association.
