Worship and Sacraments

It is known as the St. Louis question – and there are two variations on it. The first – What high school did you go to? The second – What parish do you belong to? Both of them reveal a lot about who we are and what makes us tick.

Perhaps an unopened gift is a good symbol for us.  We’ve begun a New Year and we wonder what it will hold?  Will it be toys or clothes? Will it be filled with excitement, fun and joy; or the stuff that we didn’t really want … stuff that is less fun, disappointing, maybe even painful?

Do you ever feel like your work is never done? If so, what two words from the gospel might serve you well in the new year?

If Jesus had been born today…what would the fact checkers say? What would happen, 2017, if this would be the time Jesus was born, instead of 2000 years ago?

What does God do best? When you think of God’s presence in your life and world – what is His niche? His specialty in terms of your life?

Some years ago, my brother Joe was blessed to be hiking in the mountains in Montana. They were talking and enjoying the hike when two women came running out of the woods in front of them, then flew right past them on the narrow path, terrified, saying ‘Bear … bear … bear”.
