The Archdiocese of St. Louis invites the community to the 5th Annual Forgive Us Our Trespasses Maafa Prayer Service on Saturday, June 20, at 9:00 a.m. at the Old Cathedral in downtown St. Louis.
This prayer service remembers the approximately 2 million lives lost during the “Middle Passage” of the Atlantic slave trade. Archbishop Rozanski will lead the gathering as participants come together in prayer, remembrance, lament, and hope.
The event begins with a prayer service at the Old Cathedral. Participants will then continue in a procession around the Gateway Arch grounds. The day includes prayer stops at the south and north legs of the Arch, a Remembering Ceremony at the North Pond, and a Sending Prayer as the group returns to the Old Cathedral.
White attire is preferred for those attending.
Overflow parking will be available at St. John’s Apostle, with shuttle service to the Old Cathedral. The first shuttle leaves at 8:00 a.m. Continuous shuttle service will run as needed, and the final shuttle from St. John’s leaves at 12:30 p.m.
