Pastor’s Message: A Win-Win Scenario

Dear Beloved Parishioners,

I know it is the waning hours of Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday, and Lent begins tomorrow, so you would suspect that this will be a ‘spiritual pep talk’ as we begin the next forty days.  You would be wrong.  However, I am looking to create a win-win scenario with one lucky parishioner out there.

Long story short, before the All Things New process put a moratorium on capital projects, we were in the planning/fundraising stages of an outdoor pavilion, complete with woodshop/pottery kiln, concession stand and restroom.  Bill Frein had promised to donate his Shopsmith Mark V (the gold [silver?] standard in home woodworking tools) to the project and was happy to hold it in his basement until such a time as we were ready for it.

As you know, Bill was ‘born into glory’ in November, and now his house is being prepared for market and an estate sale.  So, the Shopsmith Mark V needs a new ‘home’ in the very near future.  (by March 1st)

Here is where the win-win comes in.  If you are willing to store the Shopsmith, it is also yours to use, until we have built the home it needs here at St. Justin.  I am told that the unit fit comfortably inside Bill’s 15’ x 8’ shop, with plenty of room to create your favorite projects.

But say that you are not a carpenter, and have no intention of using it, but could spare 7’ x 5’ of your basement, we could fit the Mark V and the added table saw, router and tools into that space, with about 6 inches left over.

So, if you would like to be part of a win-win scenario, or have the necessary space to store this item until we can use it here at St. Justin, give me a call or email me back and we will chat about details…

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of this fat Tuesday, and may you have an amazing and grace filled Lent.

Blessings,

Fr Bill

ps – a little pre-Lent humor:

Every year, on Ash Wednesday, my friend stops using isopropyl in lieu of dryer fluff…

He gives up alcohol for lint…
