Faith Alive in the Home

What is FAITH?

FAITH is a “parents as teachers” model for early childhood faith development created to support parents’ role as the First Educator of the Catholic Faith. Since the Church teaches that the home is the “domestic church,” faith is communicated to the child first by interaction with their parent’s/care givers and also by the environment of the home. FAITH program facilitators will provide enrichment to the parents’ spirituality and offer engaging, developmentally-appropriate methods for sharing faith with children.

Faith Alive in the Home is an opportunity for children 18 months through 4 years to learn more about our Catholic Faith. One hour a month, a facilitator will visit your family at home and share stories, games, and hands-on activities. These visits can take place wherever you and the facilitator are most comfortable: your home, your backyard, or at our parish.

The main goal of FAITH is to provide encouraging support to the parents. The FAITH program will concentrate on the spiritual life of young children, supporting their growth and development and fostering independence through purposeful work. FAITH aims to help parents live out the baptismal covenant by incorporating faith practices in a faith-filled home environment.

If your family is interested in joining the FAITH program, contact Marge Kathalynas kathalynas@stjustinmartyr.org to get registered.

We also welcome those who want to volunteer as facilitators to help spread the love of our faith with our St. Justin Martyr families. The Archdiocese of St. Louis offers training session opportunities a few times a year. Contact Mrs. Marge Kathalynas, kathalynas@stjustinmartyr.org
