This Week on FORMED: Cabrini, Eternal Life, and Preparing for Advent

By

This week’s FORMED recommendations feature the inspiring story of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, a discussion about life after death, and a look at the meaning of the Advent wreath. All three programs are available free to St. Justin Martyr parishioners.

This week’s featured programs include:

Cabrini

Arriving in New York City in 1889, Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini encountered immigrant families struggling with poverty and illness. Despite her own poor health and limited English, she worked tirelessly to establish schools, orphanages, and hospitals. This powerful film tells the story of her determination to serve those in need. Her feast day is November 13.

The Afterlife | Eternal Rest | Episode 2

What happens when we die? What does the Church teach about heaven, hell, and purgatory? The second episode of Eternal Rest explores Catholic teaching about what awaits us after death. It’s a timely topic for November, when we remember and pray for the faithful departed.

How to Advent | Episode 2

With Advent beginning November 29, now is a good time to learn more about the Advent wreath. This episode explains the meaning of its candles, colors, and symbolism. Discover how this familiar tradition can help us prepare our hearts for Christmas as we await the coming of Christ.
