Our parish is blessed with many young families who are walking through seasons of change—welcoming new babies, adjusting to life with little ones, or simply trying to keep up with the daily rhythm of family life. The Helping Hands Ministry is here to offer practical support during these important moments.
The mission of Helping Hands Ministry is to support our church’s call to Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples by serving young families with day-to-day tasks that help them thrive. Sometimes the simplest acts of service can make the greatest difference.
Volunteers may assist with daily chores and household tasks, run errands, or help by watching children for a short time. These small acts of kindness can bring relief and encouragement to families who are expecting, postpartum, or adjusting to life with young children.
We are currently looking for volunteers who are adults or in 8th grade and older who feel called to serve others in their homes. Scheduling is flexible, making it possible to help in a way that works for you.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this ministry—or if you would like to volunteer—please call or text Linda Probst at 314-640-8717.
Together, we can care for one another and strengthen the families of our parish community.
Testimonial:
As a mom with young kids, I juggle chaos on a daily basis. But adding a newborn to the mix made keeping up with household tasks nearly impossible. It’s not easy to admit you can’t do it all, but I found myself in need of assistance to get my house back in order for our baby’s baptism reception.
That’s when I reached out to Helping Hands. Linda and her team were the extra hands I desperately needed. She came over several times before the baptism to watch my young kids while I deep cleaned parts of the house I hadn’t touched in months. It felt so good to have someone from the parish who could handle the juggling act with a kind and gentle disposition. My three year old loved playing with Linda, and my newborn was happy to be snuggled up in her arms. I am so grateful to be part of a parish community that continues looking for creative ways to serve one another and would recommend this ministry to every new mom at SJM!
