All parishioners are invited to the celebration of Tenebrae, a service of light and shadows. This service, beginning at 7 pm, is a prayerful 30-minute prequel to the Sacred Triduum consisting of Scripture and music.
Tenebrae (Latin for “darkness” or “shadows”) is an ancient Catholic liturgical event that has seen a re-birth in many Catholic parishes. The service, conducted in a semi-dark church, consists of a series of readings and psalms sung by the choir or cantor. After each reading, one of the candles in the sanctuary is extinguished, symbolizing the abandonment of Christ by His disciples. Please come to participate.
