Eucharistic Adoration Update

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

We are now into our 10th year of Eucharistic Adoration at St. Justin’s! That’s the GOOD news! The BAD news is that we have reached the stage of losing many of our faithful, long-term adorers because of death, medical issues, or the inability to drive. Our goal has always been to have 2 adorers per time slot but most hours have only 1 adorer. This places a burden on that one individual when other life events cause them to miss their assigned time, find a sub, or alter their schedule.

We need some “new” blood to help continue this ministry! As Father Mayo said in a recent St. Louis Review article, “Adoring the Blessed Sacrament outside of Mass makes the times we receive Communion more spiritually mature, impacts us more deeply, and allows us to experience a fuller communion with the Lord and others in our life……With such fruits, it is no wonder then, why the Church encourages all to make some time weekly for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.” Eucharistic Adoration provides a time set apart from our everyday responsibilities. It’s a time to listen, learn, and absorb. Beyond pouring out our concerns, we simply sit in His presence. We enjoy Him.

We currently have adoration Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am- midnight, and on Fridays from 9:00 am -4 pm. We are asking all of you to prayerfully consider adding this “hour of prayer” to your spiritual practices. Here are some ways that you could consider adding Adoration into your life:

  • Commit to one hour per week during the times listed above. You have the choice of day and time!
  • Partner with a friend, neighbor, fellow parishioner to share one hour per week
  • Partner with a group. Several of our younger families do this so as to keep their commitment to one hour per month
  • Drop in to the chapel for a few minutes while waiting to pick up your children or grandchildren from school or while your children are attending PSR classes
  • Drop in to the chapel anytime!

It is our earnest wish to continue this practice as robustly as possible, but we need your help to do that! Please call or contact us if you have questions or concerns. More importantly, please contact us with your commitment to “watch one hour with Me” as the Lord asked of His first disciples. As parish family, let us all pray that the Spirit will touch our hearts and souls to make this commitment!
