We were very busy in Makerspace this week.
In Grades 6-8 students choose their own projects, and work on them in Makerspace. A wide variety of projects are going on right now, including creating a miniature model of the proposed new football stadium, sewing new wallets, building a miniature foosball table, making a mood lamp (including wiring the lamp), writing short stories, and many others.
Students in Grades 2-5 are continuing their work with circuits. This week we learned more about the voltage of batteries by using a multimeter, and we created our own batteries from potatoes or lemons and pennies, nails and wire. We lit up LED lights with our potato and lemon batteries.
Our first graders are working on teamwork. They worked in teams to build bridges out of popsicle sticks and scotch tape. Then we “drove” a car across the bridges to see if they were sturdy enough for traffic.
